The MAKEWAVES collaboration will conduct a large suite of experimental and numerical investigations of tsunami inundation of the built environment. It seeks to understand the physics of these destructive waves, and how to mitigate their impact on coastal infrastructure and improve tsunami resilience.

The MAKESWAVES experiments will consist of four experimental campaigns with specific aims and objectives.
Tsunami Runup | Boulders and Debris  | Tsunami-Structural Interaction  | Scour

Further improvements to the tsunami wave generator technology will improve our ability to represent real tsunami wave propagation and inundation modeling.

OUR RESEARCH TEAM

MAKEWAVES is a large international collaboration of 20 scientists, engineers, and industry partners across 11 different universities. The research is hosted by HR Wallingford and is led by Professor Tiziana Rossetto (UCL) and Dr. David McGovern (LSBU).
